TIPS AND ADVICE:

I wanted this chapter to be as thorough as possible, in order for my site not to be a commercial link to sell my puppies. That way dog lovers, customers or not, can find helpful advice.

• POTTY TRAINING

As soon as your dog arrives, before even getting into the house, take him outside and show him his potty place; give him some alone time while standing at his side. As soon as he's done, congratulate him warmly, using always the same words then take him inside the house. Every time you take him out, bring him back to the same place, that way he will see that he pleases you by urinating/defecating at the same place. Take him out regularly, a puppy much like a baby, can not hold himself very long at least until 4 to 5 months old. Take him out late at night and early in the morning, as soon as he wakes up from a nap or after eating.

If a little "accident" occurs, here is the right attitude: at the breeder's the puppies are used to their mother cleaning after them by eating their stools. If your fur ball sees you cleaning after him, he will think that you do as his mother and will find that totally natural. It is better if you clean after him once your dog is busy elsewhere. If you see him peeing/defecating in a forbidden place and only if you see him, say NO firmly and take him to the place where you want him to do potty. Avoid cleaning with bleach which attracts dogs.
